Attempting to purchase Ford Motor Company

I’ve submitted an order to purchase 1000 shares of F, Ford Motor Company, at $7.35 good for today only.

Update Ford Motor Company

F, Ford Motor Company has dropped below my target purchase price of $7.80. F closed today at $7.66. Today’s drop was quite aggressive. I will likely attempt to purchase some shares of F at $7.60 or lower tomorrow.

A slow strategy

My trading strategy can be outright boring and is not ideally suited to the fast moving habits of day traders. I believe patience is a key attribute when following an emotional market that seems to swing from a bull to bear market rather quickly. While I do not make calls as frequently as other blog writers, I hope readers get a few good ideas for investments or trends from my writings.

Update Corporate High Yield Fund, Inc.

On December 19th, 2005, I wrote this post about COY, Corporate High Yield Fund, Inc. At the time, the stock was trading around $7.50 and paying a .0062 monthly dividend, equivalent to 9.8% annually, I predicted that the stock would rebound to above $8 within 1-3 months. COY closed at $8 on February 22nd, 2006. Today the stock closed at $8.11. COY is among several high dividend closed-end bond funds that I watch. I did not take a position in COY.

Update Ford Motor Company

On February 7th, 2006, I wrote that I like F, Ford Motor Company at under $7.80. F closed at $7.95 today. The company has recently announced that it will build more cars instead of trucks for the second quarter of 2006. I am glad to see that the company is shifting its focus away from trucks and SUV’s. Fuel prices are still high enough to persuade cost conscious consumers to look at energy efficient alternatives. I consider the production shift at Ford, a long term beneficial strategy for the company. If F drops below my target purchase price of $7.80, I will likely purchase shares of the stock.
